? Recycled Embroidery Floss Scrap Necklace – Craft Tutorial 12

Click "Show more»" to view the Instructions. This is a good way to use up all of your extra/leftover floss. I use DMC brand six stranded embroidery floss purchased from Michael's Arts & Crafts (or) AC Moore. (NOTE: Any art store should have six stranded embroidery floss.) ? First remover the ring from a beverage. I am using a ring from a water bottle in this video but you can use any ring you can get your hands on. ? Gather all of your floss scraps and cut them into pieces that are about 3 inches long or make them a bit longer if you want thicker stripes. You can use random scrap colors (or) try to keep a color theme in mind. It's up to you. ? Now that your pieces are cut start tying all of the pieces together in the order you want them. Use overhand knots tying the tips to one another until you end up with a 'magicians rope' of floss. (Don't worry if you make the tied string too short because you can always tie more on in the middle of the project. It's easier to work with a shorter length and add more on half way through the project than it is to start off with 4+ feet of knotted strings!) ? Tie the string onto the ring and start wrapping. If your ring has sharp points (like on a Gatorade ring) then feel free to cover it in a piece of duct tape or some other form of tape. Black works best. NOTE: It's also best to wrap the tape around the circumference of the ring and then fold it into the center. Make sure you don't have too much overlapping tape. You want it as ...
